Kenneth Gainwell In A Featured-Back Role?
1 year agoPhilly Voice's Shamus Clancy writes that Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell appears to be promoted to a "feature" back spot in training camp recently, with D'Andre Swift emerging as the pass-catching back who will be on the field in third-down and two-minute situations. Gainwell has frequently been the team's early down back when he's getting touches as a runner, and he's undoubtedly had a stronger camp than the oft-injured Rashaad Penny. Gainwell scored three touchdowns in short-yardage, goal-line situations in Wednesday's practice. Clancy's current guess is that Gainwell is the team's top back, with Swift, Boston Scott and Penny behind him in that order. Swift certainly has the most appeal as an RB3/flex in PPR leagues, but Gainwell could begin to gain steam as a late-round flier over Penny in standard-scoring leagues if this momentum lasts.
