Sandy Alcantara, 6.0 Strikeouts (LOWER)
Alcantara has looked more like himself lately, giving up two or fewer earned runs in four of his last six starts, but he is facing the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday. The Phillies have the 12th-fewest strikeouts against right-handed pitching this season, paired with Alcantara having the lowest K/9 of his career this year, which adds up to a lower strikeout output. The reigning NL Cy Young winner could struggle to reach this line.
Jose Ramirez, 0.5 Batter Strikeouts (LOWER)
Ramirez is amid another superb season, and he is once again proving that he is the best third baseman in fantasy. In 2023, Ramirez has a strikeout rate below 10% for the first time in his career. The Guardians superstar also maintains the elite contact rates he's averaged throughout his career. A matchup against Framber Valdez on Tuesday may seem daunting, but Ramirez is 5-for-10 with a home run and two RBI against Valdez. I fully expect Ramirez to put the ball in play consistently.
Zack Greinke, 1.5 Walks Allowed (LOWER)
Greinke's best days are behind him, but the veteran pitcher can still get the ball over the plate. In his nearly 20 years in the majors, Greinke has been one of the best control pitchers in baseball. The 39-year-old has a 1.33 BB/9 this season, which would be the third-lowest mark of his career. The Royals starter also faces the New York Mets, who have the 10th-fewest walks against right-handed pitching this season. The odds favor Greinke handing out less than two free passes.
Zach Eflin, 5.5 Strikeouts (HIGHER)
Eflin joining the Tampa Bay Rays has certifiably rejuvenated his career. If the season were to end today, Eflin would have career-best numbers in ERA, xERA, FIP, xFIP, and SIERA. The veteran right-hander is having one of the best seasons of his career and has the second-best K/9 of his career at 8.97. The New York Yankees have the 12th-most strikeouts against right-handed pitching this season, and Eflin has struck out six or more batters in 10 of 20 starts. Eflin should reach that mark on Tuesday.
Adley Rutschman, 0.5 Singles (HIGHER)
Baltimore Orioles franchise catcher Adley Rutschman has proved himself as one of the best catchers in baseball. The young catcher is batting .268 this season, but his xBA is .284, in the 91st percentile. Rutschman faces Hyun Jin Ryu, who will make his 2023 debut off the injured list. Baltimore's switch hitter is batting .290 against left-handed pitching this season. Rutschman should collect at least one single in Tuesday's contest.
Ha-Seong Kim, 1.5 Total Bases (HIGHER)
Ha-Seong Kim has been one of the hottest players in baseball in the past few weeks. Kim slashed .341/.452/.553 with five home runs and eight stolen bases in July. The Padres' leadoff hitter also walked 15 times and struck out 14 times in 102 plate appearances. Kim is facing Rockies starter Peter Lambert at Coors Field on Tuesday. Lambert owns a 4.76 ERA and a 4.87 xERA in 45 1/3 innings this season. The favorable environment should help Kim stay hot and collect two or more total bases.
