Lawrence Butler Hasn't Slowed Down Since Promotion
1 year agoOakland Athletics outfield prospect Lawrence Butler continued his impressive season by going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI and a solo home run for Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday. Butler started the season in Double-A Midland after missing much of 2022 with a dislocated elbow, but hasn't missed a beat this season. The 23-year-old was promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas on July 14 and has hit .325 with three homers, 12 RBI and six stolen bases in just 10 games. Overall, the 23-year-old has hit .290 with 13 home runs, 59 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 2023. Butler's biggest blunder entering this season was his aggressiveness at the plate, but he only struck out 18.9% in Double-A and is down to a 15.9 strikeout rate for Las Vegas versus a previous career low of 27.8%. With the Athletics rostering one of the weakest rosters in baseball, Butler could and should see a chance at some point this summer. With true 20-20 potential, Butler should be on the radar in all formats.
