1 year agoThough he took a loss, it was quite the debut for Bassil Hafez on Saturday. The welterweight may have only landed three takedowns on Jack Della Maddalena, but he locked in over six minutes of control time. Holding his own while standing up in the second round gave him the first two rounds on the scorecards of many viewers. Overall, his striking numbers were not there, as he absorbed 83 significant strikes (149 total strikes) while only landing 32 significant strikes (48 total strikes). Coming in on late notice may have actually served as an advantage for Hafez in this encounter.
