Jeimer Candelario Dealing With Bruised Thumb
1 year agoWashington Nationals third baseman Jeimer Candelario (thumb) is dealing with a bone bruise in his right thumb, according to manager Dave Martinez. Candelario injured the thumb during a pre-game defensive drills, and it felt worse when he attempted to swing on Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals in his first and only at-bat of the night. Some folks were wondering whether Candelario had been traded as the reason for him departing the contest early on, but it was actually an injury. Fantasy managers shouldn't be shocked if the 29-year-old is out on Saturday, and it could cause him to go on the injured list, which would be bad news for his trade value ahead of the Aug. 1 deadline. The switch-hitter came entered the second half of the season hitting .261 (84-for-322) with 13 homers, 43 RBI, five steals and 46 runs scored this year. His fantasy value could improve significantly with a move to a contender in the second half.
