James Wood Struggling Since Promotion
1 year agoWashington Nationals outfielder James Wood, the team's No. 1 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is hitting only .223 (27-for-121) with six home runs, seven doubles, a triple, 21 RBI, five stolen bases and 18 runs scored in his first 33 games at Double-A Harrisburg since being promoted from High-A Wilmington. At Wilmington, he hit .293 (44-for-150) with eight homers, nine doubles, five triples, 36 RBI, eight steals and 32 runs scored in 42 games. The 20-year-old continues to strike out at a high clip, but the young left-handed hitter continues to square the ball up regularly when he does make contact. Wood is a beast at 6-foot-7, 240 pounds, and he can also run a little bit despite his size. He should only be rostered in dynasty/keeper leagues right now, but Woods has the potential to stick in center field at the next level as a five-tool prospect.
