T.J. Edwards 2023 NFL Player Outlook: Competing For Green Dot In Training Camp
1 year agoNew Chicago Bears Linebacker T.J. Edwards has made over 130 tackles each of the past two seasons as the green-dot linebacker in Philadelphia, and he has been on the field for almost all of their defensive plays. He joins a Bears team where linebackers have thrived from a fantasy perspective. Roquan Smith was a top-10 IDP linebacker before being traded to the Baltimore Ravens. After Smith left, Nicholas Morrow and Jack Sanborn both had solid production in games they started. Now, however, Edwards' status as the every-down linebacker is in question. The Bears also added Tremaine Edmunds, who was wearing the green dot for the Buffalo Bills. Edwards and Edmunds will be competing for the role. Both linebackers will have value. The Bears still played two linebackers on the field over 80% of the time last season. But being the odd man out is kind of like being the WR2 on offense. Edwards could see ten to twenty fewer tackles if he doesn't get chosen as the defensive playcaller.
