Mitch Haniger To Have Surgery Thursday
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Mitch Haniger (forearm) will have surgery on Thursday in Los Angeles to fix his fractured right forearm, with Dr. Steve Shin performing the procedure. The Giants will have more updates on Haniger and a potential timetable for his return on Friday after his surgery is complete. Haniger suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals, and he'll almost certainly be moved to the 60-day injured list eventually. The 32-year-old might miss most of the rest of the season, so fantasy managers in mixed leagues can probably throw him to the waiver wire. Haniger was hitting a mere .230 (34-for-148) with four home runs, 22 RBI and 20 runs scored in 40 games in his first year in San Fran before the injury.
