Royals Sign Matt Beaty To Minor-League Deal Monday
                
        
        The Kansas City Royals signed free-agent infielders Matt Beaty and Jermaine Palacios to minor-league deals on Monday. Both players will report to Triple-A Omaha this week. Beaty comes to Kansas City after playing in the minors with the San Francisco Giants this year. The 30-year-old left-handed-hitting first baseman played in four games for the Gigantes and went 1-for-5 with an RBI and two strikeouts. In 30 games at Triple-A Sacramento, he hit .272 (28-for-103) with six doubles, four homers, 23 RBI and 14 runs scored. Beaty will serve as organizational corner-infield depth for the Royals. In parts of five big-league seasons, he has a .249 average with 18 homers, 93 RBI and seven steals in 264 games played.
