Welcome to our PrizePicks MLB DFS prop picks for Friday, June 2, 2023. The 2023 MLB season is underway here at RotoBaller, and we have you covered with some terrific plays from our friends over at PrizePicks.
PrizePicks is a great DFS fantasy picks site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or single stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money.
Announcement: We have two awesome new Props Optimizers for the MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, and NCAA! The PrizePicks Optimizer and Prop Bets Optimizer are both available in our new Props Premium Package, which includes exclusive access to RotoBaller's VIP Discord chat rooms for props and betting.
PrizePicks Over/Under DFS Props Contests
PrizePicks has two types of games. The first type of game is known as Fantasy Score, which consists of selecting various players and trying to determine if they will go over or under their projected fantasy points in a game.
The second game is known as Single Stat. For the MLB, Single Stat consists of pitcher strikeout props in which you determine if the pitcher in question will go over or under their projected strikeout total.
You can mix and match players from different types of games in your entry or select all of your plays from the same type of game. Once you have selected your players and props, you can choose the aforementioned flex play or power play option. Let's see what the board offers today!

Framber Valdez more than 6.5 strikeouts
This is a solid number on Valdez as he has struck out seven or more in a total of seven starts this season. The matchup for strikeouts is also ripe as the Angels are posting the second-highest K rate vs. left-handers over the previous two weeks with a whopping 32.5% rate.
The only scary situation here is that the Angels are also posting the third-highest wRC+ mark over this same span with a mark of 172. If Framber can keep the ball down, he should have a great shot at getting over the hump, and even if he gets tagged a little, he has still thrown over 100 pitches in four games this season and reached 90+ pitches in all but one start.
Merrill Kelly more than 5.5 strikeouts
This might be my favorite play on the board at 6 am. Kelly has struck out at least six batters in four of his previous five starts and in six starts this season. He also owns an 11.0 K/9 at home. which is nearly three strikeouts per game higher than his road total. The matchup is against Atlanta, who has fluctuated a bit in terms of K rate this season, but is currently posting a 23.2% K rate vs. righties over the previous two weeks. The Braves are also walking at an abysmal clip of 5.5% while pairing that with a mediocre 95 wRC+ mark.
Aaron Civale more than 4.5 strikeouts
This could be a tad risky as Civale has been on the IL since the beginning of April, however, the matchup is too strong to ignore. Civale has also thrown 11 innings in the minors while on rehab assignments in order to get ready for tonight. He will be facing the Twins, who are currently posting the highest K rate in the league against right-handers over the previous two weeks with a rate of 32%! This is absolutely absurd, especially when you consider it is across 413 PA. Civale struck out at least five in each of his previous two rehab starts and managed to mow down five Mariners in his last MLB start on April 7th.
Ryan McMahon more than 7.5 hitter fantasy score
This number feels a bit low for a guy who has posted a 1.556 OPS with four home runs and 19 combined runs +RBI over the previous seven days. He will be up against Jordan Lyles, who has allowed eight home runs and seven doubles to lefties thus far in 2023. Meanwhile, McMahon has posted an .874 OPS with seven bombs off of right-handers in 2023.
