Some were encouraged by Garrick Higgo and how he performed at the Byron Nelson a couple of weeks ago. The South African golfer nudged himself into the top-30 after a final-round 65. That was Higgo's first top-30 since a 29th at The Honda Classic back in February. Higgo is only 24 and apt to mistakes. Higgo carries some significant metrics in the red including putting, driving accuracy, and overall strokes gained. Those are just a few. Higgo possesses a good shot-making game but it is about stringing together putts. Most weeks he putts average which can be a problem. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

Fantasy managers should pay close attention to Garrick Higgo news leading up Thursday tee times. The 24-year-old South African withdrew in the second round of The Players Championship last week due to a wrist injury, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him withdraw from the Valspar Championship as a result. Even if he does choose to tee off, he offers little upside heading into Innisbrook. Higgo had only one top-10 finish in 33 starts last season, and he's yet to finish inside of the top-15 in his 12 Tour starts so far this season. He's also lost strokes on approach in nine of his last 10 measured starts, and that is a recipe for disaster at Copperhead. There are plenty of golfers with higher upside around Higgo and his $6,400 DraftKings price tag, and the injury risk is not worth any potential reward for fantasy managers.--Ryan Hickey

Garrick Higgo comes in 72nd with FedEx Cup Points. The young South African golfer just has to finish above a few golfers ahead to make the playoff. One of the big keys is his previous four tournaments. Four top-32 results have come his way and that culminated with a tied for 13th at the 3M Open. From off the tee, Higgo has been hot lately. That pushed his strokes gained up to 0.496 (19th). Even his strokes rose approaching the green above red numbers. That went for putting as well in his last four tournaments. It all comes down to Wyndham for Higgo and the playoffs. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

Garrick Higgo still does not have a top-10 result since last October. However, the South African golfer keeps improving bit by bit. The 24-year old even cracked the top 20 with a T19 at the Genesis Scottish Open. Since the American Express, Higgo had not shown the same consistency, but it appears that is back. He has now made the cut in five of his past six events. Higgo's strokes gained have risen closer to average (ranks 100th at -0.075 strokes gained). Though his putting is only 131st, that metric was outside the top 150 just a couple of months ago.--Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

Garrick Higgo had been about 50-50 in cuts made this 2023 season. However, over the past seven events, Higgo has seen the weekend five times now. The South African golfer has not finished in the top ten since a third at the Sanderson Farms Championship last October. Last year, Higgo blew up at the Scottish Open with a Friday 81 that looked and felt extremely disastrous. He never truly recovered during the final four events of 2021-22. Can the South African get better shots to the green and then make those putts? With rankings of 153rd and 135th respectively, that remains a question mark for Higgo. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
