Joey Bart To Begin Baseball Activities
2 years agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Joey Bart (groin) played through right-groin tightness in April, but he started to experience a similar issue on his left side on May 17, and an MRI exam showed a Grade 1 strain, causing him to land on the 10-day injured list on May 19. Bart was scheduled to start baseball activities in San Francisco on Monday and will start running in the coming days. In his absence, prospect Patrick Bailey and Rule 5 draft pick Blake Sabol are splitting catching duties behind the plate for the Giants. Barring a setback, Bart has a chance to be back before the end of May, but he had been a disappointment at the plate so far for fantasy managers. The 26-year-old has no home runs and is hitting just .231 (18-for-78) in his first 26 games in 2023.
