Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (knee) was scratched ahead of his team's Monday game against the Texas Rangers. Crawford was replaced in the lineup by Kolten Wong, who will play second base, while Jose Caballero will shift over to shortstop. Crawford is dealing with a knee issue after he fouled a ball off of his left knee during Sunday's game. He has a chance to return to action on Tuesday. Stay tuned.--Matt T - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford went 2-for-3 with a home run in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Miami Marlins. He added two RBI, two runs scored, one walk, and one strikeout. The veteran connected on a two-run blast in the bottom of the fifth inning -- his second of the season -- off Miami reliever Ronny Henriquez that would put Seattle up 7-2 and prove the winning run as the Marlins mounted a late comeback. Crawford has been much better this season than he was in an abysmal 2024. He's not hitting for much power, and that includes extra-base hits (two doubles), but the average is there, and he's getting on base at a robust clip (.412 OBP). While his spot in the lineup is a detriment to his counting stats, he should still be a nice help, average-wise. Crawford is riding a seven-game hit streak with four multi-hit outings during the stretch.--Alex Ciulla

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford had a load lifted off his shoulders on Wednesday, as he went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, and a walk in Wednesday's 8-5 win over the Boston Red Sox. Crawford blasted a three-run shot in the top of the fourth inning to give the Mariners a 4-0 lead. It was his first home run of the year. The 30-year-old added an RBI single in the seventh inning, giving him a total of four RBI on the night. It's been a tough go for the 30-year-old veteran, who now has a .246 AVG and .714 OPS, with 11 runs, one homer, 10 RBI, and one steal. While he has been heating up in the last week, he still doesn't need to be rostered outside of the deepest leagues.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena and shortstop J.P. Crawford are both taking the day off on Thursday in the series finale against the division-rival Oakland Athletics at the Oakland Coliseum. Victor Robles will start in left field and bat leadoff, while Leo Rivas will make the start at the 6 and bat ninth against A's right-hander Joey Estes. This will be just Arozarena's second day off with Seattle since they acquired him at the end of July from the Rays. He's been a bit better in Seattle than he was in Tampa earlier this year, batting .238 (29-for-122) with three homers and 12 RBI in his 34 games played. Crawford, meanwhile, has a hit in each of his last two games but has gone 2-for-24 with five strikeouts in seven games since returning from an IL stint on Aug. 28. Robles has been a new hitter since joining the M's and will be a nice sleeper target in DFS in the leadoff spot on Thursday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (finger) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list on Wednesday and is back at shortstop and batting leadoff against the Tampa Bay Rays and right-hander Drew Rasmussen at T-Mobile Park. In a corresponding move, the M's optioned outfielder Dominic Canzone to Triple-A Tacoma. Crawford will return to Seattle for the first time since suffering a hairline fracture of his right pinkie finger when being hit by a pitch in late July. The 29-year-old will return to everyday duties at the 6, sending Leo Rivas back to a bench role. It's good news for the Mariners as they look to close the gap on the Houston Astros atop the American League West division, but fantasy managers probably aren't all that interested in Crawford if he's available on the waiver wire after he's hit just .204/.299/.347 on the season with nine homers, 32 RBI and five steals in 294 at-bats.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
