William Byron Overcomes Early Speeding Penalty
2 years agoPole-winner William Byron had to battle his way back all day from a speeding penalty early in the race. The penalty ended up putting Bryon two laps down early in the race. Even though Byron placed himself in the hole, he was able to battle his way out of it throughout the race. He finished Stage 1 in 34th and climbed to 20th by the end of Stage 2. During the final stage of the race, Byron was able to once again make his way into the top five, ultimately ending his day in third place. On a day that started off on the wrong foot, Byron was able to maintain his composure and stick to a plan that put him in position for a successful day.
