2 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Vince Velasquez (elbow) has been placed on the 15-day injured list on Friday. The right-hander was forced to exit early during his start on Thursday due to right elbow discomfort. He downplayed the issue, but clearly it's a little more serious than a day-to-day injury. That being said, the Pirates plan on having Velasquez undergo additional testing. It's uncertain who is going to take his spot in the starting rotation. Right-hander Chase De Jong has been activated and recalled to the MLB, so he'll likely get a chance. Velasquez has posted a 3.06 ERA (3.79 FIP), 1.17 WHIP, 12 walks and 32 strikeouts through seven starts this season.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
