Ronald Acuna Jr. Leaves Early With Shoulder Injury Monday
2 years agoUpdating a previous report, Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (shoulder) left Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader against the New York Mets with what is being labeled a left-shoulder contusion. Acuna suffered the injury while being hit in the shoulder with a pitch from Mets right-hander Tylor Megill in the top of the first inning, and he appeared to be in significant discomfort on the ground surrounded by trainers. Of course, any time missed by Acuna would be a serious blow for the Braves, as he's once again enjoying a big season with a .352 batting average, four home runs, and an MLB-leading 13 stolen bases across 27 games. His 1.6 fWAR is tied with the Mets' Brandon Nimmo for third in all of baseball as both player and team hold their breath while he undergoes tests to assess the damage.
