Jose Butto Called Up For Spot Start
2 years agoThe New York Mets called up pitching prospect Jose Butto from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday and placed reliever Edwin Uceta (ankle) on the injured list with an ankle sprain in a corresponding move. Butto, the team's No. 15 prospect per MLB Pipeline, will make the spot start on Tuesday against the Washington Nationals and give the team a little length. The 25-year-old Venezuelan right-hander looked good in his second major-league start against the Oakland Athletics by allowing only one run on five hits while walking four and striking out two in five innings on April 16. Butto will likely make another start this Sunday in a tough matchup against the division-rival Atlanta Braves, and there's a good chance he'll go right back to the minors after that.
