Joe Ryan Excels With New Pitch Mix
2 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan tossed a gem Thursday, throwing seven one-run innings in an 11-2 win over the New York Yankees. Ryan was extremely sharp in this one, allowing just three hits while not walking a batter. He also struck out 10 batters for the second game in a row. The 26-year-old appears to have changed his pitch mix, opting for a sweeper instead of a slider or curveball and a splitter instead of a changeup. The mix seems to be working, as Ryan is 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA, 0.63 WHIP, and 26:3 K:BB ratio. His stock is rising rapidly.
