Los Angeles Angels pitching prospect Chase Silseth, a 2021 11th-round pick who is considered one of the top pitching prospects in the organization, is coming off a big week at Triple-A. Silseth has shown incredible strikeout stuff since being drafted but has still struggled to keep opponents off the bases, especially at the major league level in 2022 when he posted a 1.57 WHIP. Scouts and analysts rave about Silseth's upper-90s fastball, which pairs quite well with his effective slider, deceptive changeup, and a really strong splitter. His offerings could truly become top-notch if he continues to pitch with high velocity and break while simultaneously working to improve his command. Silseth has looked great this season, but the better of his two outings came last Friday when he allowed just one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings. The right-hander also struck out seven batters and earned the win while continuing to demonstrate why he's a candidate for a mid-season promotion to the majors.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

An MRI on Los Angeles Angels right-hander Chase Silseth's right elbow has revealed inflammation but no ligament damage. The 23-year-old said he received a second opinion, but the doctors agreed on only inflammation, and he hopes to return to action in three weeks. It's certainly big news for everyone involved given the rash of elbow injuries across the league early in the 2024 season, while Silseth has seemingly avoided disaster after a solid debut season in 2023. Silseth had a 3.96 ERA across 16 outings (eight starts) with the Halos a season ago while also working to an impressive 2.96 ERA 11 starts with Triple-A Salt Lake. The youngster is worth a short-term injury stash in deeper leagues.--Brenton Kemp

The Los Angeles Angels placed right-handers Chase Silseth (elbow) and Guillo Zuniga (pectoral) on the 15-day injured list on Monday and selected the contracts of right-handers Carson Fulmer and Hunter Strickland from the minors in corresponding moves. The club also designated infielder Livan Soto and right-hander Zach Plesac for assignment. Silseth is dealing with right-elbow inflammation, which could be part of the reason why he allowed six runs on eight hits while walking four and striking out 12 over eight innings in his first two starts of the year. With the 23-year-old out for at least the next two weeks, right-hander Jose Soriano will jump into the Halos' starting rotation and will make his first start of 2024 in a shy-away matchup on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Soriano should only be added in AL-only leagues for pitching depth.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Chase Silseth dominated his final start of the Cactus League on Tuesday versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Silseth went five innings and allowed just two hits with two runs, no walks and 10 strikeouts. It was a very impressive outing for the 23-year-old against one of the top offenses in the league. For the spring, Silseth finishes with a 2.03 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings. Silseth split time between the bullpen and rotation in limited time last year with eight starts in 16 games and had a respectable 3.96 ERA. Silseth will look to build off his spring success and makes for a fine dart throw in deeper leagues.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Angels right-hander Chase Silseth (concussion) was at Angel Stadium on Monday and is scheduled to return from the seven-day injured list to start on Friday, Sept. 29, against the Oakland Athletics. Silseth was hit on the head with an errant throw on Aug. 26 and had a 30-pitch minor-league rehab outing with Triple-A Salt Lake on Sept. 17, giving up two runs on three hits with two walks in one-third of an inning. He made a second rehab start on Sept. 22 and is now ready to rejoin the starting rotation for one last start in 2023. The 23-year-old will have an excellent matchup in his final appearance of the year, but he also might not be able to go very deep in the start, making him a pretty shaky streamer for those still in competition for a fantasy trophy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
