Ian Gibaut Earns First Save Sunday
2 years agoCincinnati Reds right-handed pitcher Ian Gibaut picked up his first save of the season Sunday, closing out a 6-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Gibaut struck out two Phillies and didn't allow a baserunner in his inning of work. The 29-year-old journeyman has had a solid start to his 2023 season, allowing just one run over 4 ⅔ IP. That being said, this solitary save likely doesn't mean much, as primary closer Alexis Diaz had a rough outing Saturday and likely needed the day off today. Diaz would need to implode for the Reds to make a change at the position, and even then it is likely that they would go with a committee, limiting Gibaut's fantasy value.
