Brandon Lowe Out Against Southpaw
2 years agoTampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe is not in the starting lineup on Friday against left-hander Ken Waldichuk and the Oakland Athletics. Lowe is off to a poor start at the plate and isn't seeing the ball well off of lefties, so he'll take a seat. In the early going in 2023, he's gone just 3-for-15 (.200) with two runs scored, three walks and five strikeouts in five games. With him on the bench, middle infielder Taylor Walls will get the start at the keystone and will hit ninth in the batting order against Waldichuk. Walls is mostly known for his defense on the infield, although he is hitting .313 (5-for-16) in the early going this year with a double and an RBI in six games.
