Raiders Confident With Jimmy Garoppolo Under Center
2 years agoLas Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is ready to begin a new chapter in his career. He spent last offseason and regular season fending off trade speculation and eventually emerged as the 49ers starting quarterback after Trey Lance (ankle) suffered a season-ending injury in Week 2. However, after Garoppolo suffered a foot injury in the Week 13 matchup with Miami, his tenure in San Francisco was over, even if it wasn't official then. Now, armed with a new three-year, $65 million contract from Vegas, he'll have a chance to start fresh with the Raiders. General manager Dave Ziegler was asked about his confidence in his signal caller. "Were confident," Commented Ziegler. "We're going to get someone that's going to provide a lot of leadership and help us win football games." The 31-year-old has completed 67.9% of his throws and accumulated 14,289 passing yards, 87 touchdowns, and 42 interceptions during his career. He also has seven trips to the end zone on the ground. Of course, it doesn't hurt he spent years learning under Tom Brady as his backup. Nevertheless, the veteran's health will be a big question for fantasy managers heading into the 2023-24 campaign. But as long as Garoppolo stays ailment-free, he could thrive under the offensive mind of Josh McDaniels and with Davante Adams as his primary pass-catcher.
