Mariners Land Felnin Celesten For $4.7 Million
2 years agoThe Seattle Mariners agreed to a $4.7 million deal on Sunday with shortstop prospect Felnin Celesten, according to a source. Celesten is considered the No. 2 international prospect, according to MLB.com. In addition to Celesten, the M's agreed to a $600,000 with right-hander Jeter Martinez, who ranks No. 42. Celesten may have the highest ceiling of any international shortstop prospect in a decent in a list that includes Marco Luciano, Wander Franco and Robert Puason. If he continues to develop at a normal pace, he'll have five-tool potential as a switch-hitter. Martinez is a 6-foot-4 16-year-old that possesses a smooth delivery on the mound and a solid repertoire of pitches at such a young age. He's also an above-average strike-thrower.
