Royals Still Willing To Re-Sign Zack Greinke
2 years agoAlthough the Kansas City Royals don't necessarily need veteran starting pitcher Zack Greinke in 2023, they remain interested in re-signing him. The potential Hall of Famer will probably need to accept a low base salary that could grow with incentives based on innings pitched if he wants to return to KC, according to sources familiar with the team's thinking. The Royals remain open to the idea, even if it would leave fewer innings for their young arms. The 39-year-old means a lot to the organization, which drafted him sixth overall in 2002. Greinke had a 3.68 ERA in 137 innings in his return to the Royals last year, but the soft-tosser with a low strikeout rate won't be very attractive in fantasy, no matter where he signs.
