Jazz Chisholm Jr. 2023 Player Outlook: One of the Game's Highest Ceilings
The young Marlins middle-infielder had a strong rookie campaign in 2021, slashing .248/.303/.425 with 18 homers and 23 steals. The 28.6% K% and 49% GB% limited his upside, but it was a useful start to a career and the steals kept him very much in play for fantasy. It was looking like he had taken a big step forward in 2022, slashing .254/.325/.535 for 60 games before losing the rest of his season to injury. Jazz's barrel rate over that short sample was 16.6% and he had dropped the GB% substantially to 39%. All things considered, Chisholm has all of the makings of a 30-homer, 30-steal player, and it should come without an awful batting average given the speed and quality of contact. The Marlins lineup will probably be mediocre once again, but it's going to be tough for Jazz to not be a huge impact-maker in fantasy this year provided he can stay healthy. At the very least you have good power and lots of speed, and the upside is first-round production. He costs a top-50 pick in most drafts, but the skills and ceiling are well worth it.
