Baker Mayfield Leads Rams To Comeback Win In First Game
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield completed 22-of-35 passes for 230 yards and a game-winning touchdown in LA's 17-16 comeback victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night. Mayfield entered the game on the second drive and hit Van Jefferson for a 21-yard gain on his first pass while leading the Rams to a field goal. His performance was impressive, considering he had only two days to learn the Rams' playbook since joining the team off the waiver wire. The 27-year-old had not practiced much with his new receivers, but he was hitting them in stride. With 12 minutes left, the Rams were down 10-16 when Mayfield led a 9-minute drive to score the team's first touchdown. The Rams got the ball back again with just 1:45 left and had to go 98 yards. Mayfield led a no-huddle drive, completing five-of-six passes, including a 23-yarder in tight coverage right on into Van Jefferson's hands for the winning touchdown. While Mayfield deserves credit for his role in this exciting comeback and could be a worthwhile pickup in superflex leagues, he has been wildly inconsistent during his career, so you can't count on him to do this every week.
