Carson Wentz Designated To Return From IR
2 years agoThe Washington Commanders designated quarterback Carson Wentz (finger) to return from Injured Reserve on Wednesday. It opens up the team's 21-day window to officially activate Wentz from Injured Reserve, and he will return to practice this week with the team. Once the 29-year-old is deemed ready to come off IR, he will return to a backup role behind Taylor Heinicke, who has been solid since Wentz injured his right ring finger. There's still a chance that Wentz regains the starting role later this season if Heinicke struggles, but Wentz has no business being rostered in single-QB leagues right now. There's a chance that Wentz is activated before Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12. Sam Howell has been serving as Heinicke's backup with Wentz injured.
