Detroit Red Wings winger Elmer Soderblom will sit out Thursday's matchup against the Rangers with an undisclosed injury. The 21-year-old rookie misses his first game of the season and is considered day-to-day. Soderblom has been skating in the bottom six so far, notching two goals in 13 games. He will be replaced in the lineup by Jonatan Berggren, who will make his NHL debut Thursday. The 22-year-old has started the AHL campaign in hot form and his numbers in the minors have been pretty impressive, with Berggren notching 71 points in 77 since moving to North America last year.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
