Packers Claim Johnathan Abram Off Waivers From Raiders
2 years agoThe Green Bay Packers claimed safety Johnathan Abram off waivers from the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday, according to a source. The Raiders waived the former first-rounder on Tuesday, but he'll quickly latch on with a new team. The 26-year-old is a bruiser and a physical presence in the secondary, but failure to succeed in coverage is ultimately what caused him to be cut by the Raiders. He'll likely be eased into his new environment in Green Bay, but Abram could eventually enter the team's starting lineup in the secondary. The Packers have actually allowed the second-fewest passing yards per game (170.6) this year. In eight games in Vegas before getting cut, Abram had 48 tackles (35 solo) and one pass defensed.
