Tony Gonsolin Will Have Some Limitations
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said there will be some limitations on how deep right-hander Tony Gonsolin can go in Game 3 of the National League Division Series on Friday against the San Diego Padres, but he's built up to "upwards of 75 pitches." As a result, they won't necessarily have a "bulk" innings guy paired with Gonsolin on Friday. If Gonsolin isn't able to go deep in Game 3, the Dodgers will have right-hander Dustin May and left-hander Andrew Heaney available in long-relief roles out of the bullpen. Gonsolin didn't pitch at all in September due to a right forearm strain, so he could be rusty and not as sharp. The 28-year-old was great during the regular season, though, going 16-1 with a 2.14 ERA (3.28 FIP), a 0.87 WHIP, 119 strikeouts and 35 walks in 130 1/3 innings over 24 starts.
