X-Rays Come Back Negative On Baker Mayfield
2 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield (foot) had X-rays on his left foot after the Week 5 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but the X-rays came back negative. He will undergo an MRI exam on Monday to determine the extent of the injury after he left the stadium in a walking boot on Sunday. The 27-year-old signal-caller had another rough game against a tough Niners defense, going 20-for-36 for 215 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in the 37-15 loss. It remains to be seen if he'll be able to play in Week 6 against another tough defense in the Los Angeles Rams. If Mayfield isn't cleared, it would most likely be P.J. Walker under center for the Panthers. Sam Darnold (ankle) isn't likely to be ready to come off Injured Reserve in Week 6.
