J.D. McKissic Reclaims Backfield Receiving Work
Washington Commanders running back J.D. McKissic had three carries for nine yards along with seven receptions for 54 yards in Sunday's loss to the Detroit Lions. The 29-year-old was used sparsely in Week 1 due to a neutral game script where Antonio Gibson handled most opportunities. In Week 2, the Commanders fell behind in a hurry while never holding a lead for the entire game. This allowed the seven-year veteran to dominate receiving work out of the backfield while Gibson fell back into his usual role. Even with this solid performance, McKissic is still a game script-dependent running back. So, while he can be productive, it will be pretty hard to pinpoint what weeks he will be useful.
