Miguel Vargas Reaches Base Five Times On Tuesday
2 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Miguel Vargas had a fantastic game at Triple-A on Tuesday as his Oklahoma City Dodgers routed the Tacoma Rainiers 15-4. He went 2-for-3 with a double, three walks and three runs scored in the game. Vargas' name has come up as a potential call-up for the Dodgers lately both because he's in the midst of an exceptional season and because of the recent injury to Chris Taylor (foot). The team wound up calling up Zach McKinstry to take Taylor's roster spot, but Vargas could be the next man up if the Dodgers suffer another injury or need another bat. While his primary position is third base, the 22-year-old has also played in the outfield this year. Over 83 games at Triple-A, he's slashed .296/.384/.499 with 13 home runs, nine stolen bases, 61 RBI and 71 runs.
