Kendall Graveman To Serve As Closer Wednesday
2 years agoChicago White Sox relief pitcher Joe Kelly isn't available to pitch on back-to-back days yet, so reliever Kendall Graveman will serve as the team's closer on Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers if a save situation arises. Liam Hendriks (forearm) went on the injured list on Tuesday and Kelly returned from the IL to strike out two over a scoreless inning of work. Prior to going unused on Tuesday, Graveman had appeared in three of the last four days. Kelly could get some save chances here and there with Hendriks out, so this looks like a committee approach between Graveman and Kelly for the time being. Graveman, who has 12 saves in his career, has a 2.51 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with two saves and 27 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings pitched this year.
