Kareem Hunt 2022 NFL Player Outlook: New Browns, Same Role
Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt has spent the offseason watching his team go through a litany of changes, while his role remains very much the same. In only eight games played, the 26-year-old had 78 carries for 386 yards and five touchdowns, adding 22 receptions for 174 yards receiving. In 2020, he finished as the RB10, with 198 carries for 841 yards and six touchdowns, adding 39 receptions for 304 yards and five touchdowns through the air. The Browns traded away Odell Beckham Jr., released Jarvis Landry and Austin Hooper, relegated Baker Mayfield to a backup role, drafted wide receiver David Bell, acquired Amari Cooper, and made a huge splash trading for Deshaun Watson. This provides a massive upgrade for fantasy at quarterback, with only one established receiver and 181 vacated targets. Some of these will go to David Njoku, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Cooper, and even Bell, but some will also go to the backfield, which is where Hunt excels. The former All-Pro running back has averaged 14 touches (carries + receptions) per game over the last two seasons as an integral part of the Browns' offense. Additionally, an improved offense means more scoring opportunities and greater touchdown upside for all of the Browns' skill position players. Hunt is currently ranked 29th in Rotoballers rankings with an ADP of 93 overall, which is an absolute bargain for a player who was the RB10 in 2020 and the RB8 over the first six games of last season before injury struck.
