German Marquez Picks Up First Win
3 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez picked up his first win of the season on Saturday as his club handily defeated the Royals 10-4. The right-hander logged a quality start by allowing three runs on three hits and a walk through six innings, while recording six strikeouts in the process. All the damage against him came in the third frame which was highlighted by a Salvador Perez two-run bomb. After an impressive first start of the season, Marquez has struggled mightily to a 6.16 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and a 32/11 K/BB through seven starts and 38 IP on the year. He's generally been an unpredictable pitcher, but managers should err on the side of caution with an upcoming home start versus the Mets next weekend.
