3 years agoTampa Bay Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh (upper body) is set to end an eight-game absence on Sunday against Buffalo. He's replacing Cal Foote in the lineup. Ryan McDonagh typically eats up over 20 minutes on the blue line and has done a bit of everything for the team over the course of the season, tallying 21 points in 60 games with 82 hits and 116 blocks. He's slated to skate with Erik Cernak on the second defensive pairing.

Ryan McDonagh Good To Go Thursday
3 months agoTampa Bay Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh (face) will play against Anaheim on Thursday. After getting hit in the face by a puck, McDonagh finished Tuesday's 6-2 loss to Boston with only 14:38 of ice time. However, he will not have to miss additional time. McDonagh is the runaway leader in blocked shots on the Lightning roster, having thrown himself in front of 84 efforts from the opposition. Through 42 outings, he has chipped in with one goal and 13 assists on the offensive end. The veteran rearguard entered the week with a season-best three-game point streak before going scoreless against the Bruins.

Ryan McDonagh Exits Tuesday's Contest Early
3 months agoAccording to Gabby Shirley of the Tampa Bay Lightning, defenseman Ryan McDonagh (face) left Tuesday's contest after taking a puck to the face. Before exiting, the defenseman logged just under 15 minutes of ice time and tallied one shot and two blocks. The 35-year-old was riding a three-game point streak entering Tuesday's contest but could not get on the scoresheet before exiting. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status leading up to Thursday's contest against the Anaheim Ducks. If McDonagh were to miss a period, Emil Lilleberg would likely move up to the second pairing. The Lightning would have to promote a defenseman from the AHL to fill a spot in the lineup.

Ryan McDonagh Likely To Return Wednesday
1 year agoNashville Predators defenseman Ryan McDonagh (upper body) will "hopefully" be in the lineup Wednesday night when the club takes on the Calgary Flames on home ice, per head coach Andrew Brunette. The veteran rearguard has been out of action since Nov. 2 due to an upper-body injury but took line rushes with Predators captain Roman Josi on Wednesday morning, indicating he is good to return in the evening. Traded from the Lightning to the Predators as a salary dump prior to last season, the 34-year-old has two assists and 25 blocked shots through 10 games this season after recording 22 points and a hefty 165 blocks last season. His defense-first style will be a welcome addition for a Preds team that is tied for 21st in overall defense and 30th on the penalty kill. Dante Fabbro is likely to come out of the lineup and serve as a healthy scratch on Wednesday.
