Jesus Aguilar Reaches Deal To Avoid Arbitration

The Miami Marlins have reached a deal with first baseman Jesus Aguilar to avoid arbitration. The club is signing Aguilar to a $7.5 million deal that pays $7.3 million this upcoming season and includes a $200K mutual option buyout for the following season. The 31-year-old was one of the Marlins' best hitters last season. Over 131 games, he slashed .261/.329/.459 with 22 home runs, 93 RBI and 49 runs. The addition of Jorge Soler and the growth of young players such as Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Jesus Sanchez should help give Aguilar better support in the lineup this season.
