Michael Kopech To Make Spring Debut Friday

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Michael Kopech will make his Cactus League debut on Friday against the Cincinnati Reds. Kopech is slated to toss two innings after getting a late start to camp due to an illness over the winter. The 25-year-old right-hander is in competition with Vince Velasquez and Reynaldo Lopez for the final spot in the team's starting rotation to begin the year. If he's able to get stretched out, Kopech should be the front-runner for the job, and he also has the most fantasy upside due to his strikeout abilities. Keep in mind that the White Sox won't need a fifth starter until April 16, and Kopech's workload will be limited in 2022 after missing all of the 2019 and 2020 seasons and throwing just 69 1/3 frames last year.
