3 years agoBoston Bruins forward Charlie Coyle had a very productive outing Friday against the Jets, finishing a 4-2 victory with three assists. Two of his helpers came in the final minutes of regulation when the Bruins managed to turn a tie into a victory with Taylor Hall's power-play goal and Charlie McAvoy's empty-netter in a short-handed situation. This is Coyle's third multi-point effort in six games, and he now boasts 36 points in 62 games for the season. Boston's third line has been hot lately and the trio has the perfect opportunity to keep up the form in the next matchup against Montreal and the league's worst defense.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

1 year agoBoston Bruins center Charlie Coyle scored his first career NHL hat trick and finished with four points in Thursday's 5-2 victory against the Islanders. Coyle's big night on the offensive end began with an assist in the opening period, followed by a power-play goal of his own in the early stages of the second period, and a pair of goals in the final frame to extend the lead for the Bruins. Coyle has been a valuable contributor as a member of the second line, and the 31-year-old has posted season totals of five goals and 12 points through 13 games to rank third on the team in scoring.--Denis Vondrus - RotoBaller

2 years agoBoston Bruins center Charlie Coyle is set to be a top-six regular for the team in 2023-24 following the retirement of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, and the 31-year-old is very much looking forward to the opportunity. "They're world-class players. And we're gonna miss them," Coyle said during a recent appearance on WEEI's The Gresh & Fauria Show. "We all wish they could play, they've done so much for this city. … [But] those are job opportunities right now, right? So that gets me fired up and gets our team fired up too." Coyle is slated to start the campaign with Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk, and he will be well-positioned to enjoy a career year. Coyle's current career-high stands at 56 points, which was recorded back in 2016-17 with the Minnesota Wild.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 years agoBoston Bruins center Charlie Coyle provided two assists as the team ended a three-game slide with an impressive 5-2 victory in Toronto. He set up Derek Forbort for a short-handed goal and helped out Brandon Carlo in an even-strength situation. Coyle capped things off with one shot on goal, two blocks, one hit, two penalty minutes and a plus-one rating in 19:08 of ice time. The 31-year-old had a pretty rough January, going scoreless in eight of the final 10 games, but he managed to make an encouraging start to the new month. For the season overall, Coyle has had strong numbers for a third-line center, notching 11 goals and 28 points in 51 games while registering a plus-19 rating with 95 shots, 44 hits and 39 blocks.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 years agoBoston Bruins forward Charlie Coyle is set to be the first-line center in Thursday's matchup against the Islanders. He's moving up in the lineup because Patrice Bergeron is unavailable because of COVID-19 protocols. Brad Marchand remains out for the same reason as well, so Coyle will skate with Taylor Hall and David Pastrnak. The 29-year-old is on 14 points for the season with 25 games played. He hasn't managed to provide consistent offense but now gets an ideal opportunity to do so, with power-play duty on the first unit also waiting for him. --Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
