Blue Jays Feeling Better About Kyle Schwarber
3 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays believe they have a better chance of landing free-agent outfielder Kyle Schwarber than they do of landing first baseman Freddie Freeman, according to sources of The Athletic. Ken Rosenthal reported this sentiment on Twitter and also added that competition "remains intense" for Schwarber, as the Philadelphia Phillies and other teams are still pursuing him actively. Schwarber split the 2021 season between the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox. In total, he played in 113 games and slashed .266/.374/.554 with 32 home runs, 71 RBI and 76 runs. As usual, he was far more effective against righties than he was against lefties. He had a slugging percentage of just .398 against southpaws while he slugged .623 against righties.
