Late in the season, a quality player rarely becomes available in the NFL. However, that's exactly what happened this week as former Philadelphia Eagle and Arizona Cardinal tight end Zach Ertz was granted his release from Arizona.
The former 2013 second-round draft pick and Super Bowl Champion was granted his release to pursue an opportunity to sign with a contender. The veteran landed on injured reserve in October with a quad injury, then later asked for a chance at a better opportunity to win his second Lombardi trophy.
Now that he appears healthy, will another team want to sign Ertz? What are some potential landing spots? Let's take a closer look.

Is Zach Ertz A Good Tight End Acquisition?
Finding quality players to fill a fantasy football roster late in the season can be a unique challenge, particularly at the tight end position. What can be even more difficult is signing one as a real-life NFL general manager the first week of December. Well, lucky for them, one just became available.
Ertz is a ten-year seasoned vet who has seen more than his share of success in the National Football League. The 33-year-old has a career 709 receptions, 7,434 receiving yards, and 46 receiving touchdowns to his name. Before his injury, he hauled in 27 receptions for 187 yards and a touchdown in seven games this season.
Throughout his career, the 6' 5" towering pass catcher has proven to be one of the most reliable tight ends the NFL has ever seen. He always seems to be in the right spot, hardly ever drops a pass, and has earned the trust of every quarterback with whom he has played. Now that he's a free agent, he can bring his talents to the destination of his choice as he attempts to win another Super Bowl.
Zach Ertz-Five Best Landing Spots
The former Stanford University standout has officially cleared waivers and is now free to sign with the team of his choosing. Where is the best fit?
Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens are one of the clear favorites to win it all in 2023, but recently lost star tight end Mark Andrews to a season-ending leg injury. Adding a talent like Ertz could be the difference maker for the birds.
Kansas City Chiefs: Yes, I know they already have some guy named Travis Kelce. Well, quarterback Patrick Mahomes doesn't exactly have the best weapons at wide receiver in 2023, so adding any additional playmakers to take the pressure off Kelce could do wonders for their title aspirations.
Philadelphia Eagles: One of the clear-cut favorites in the NFC is on a direct path to the Super Bowl. However, their current tight end, Dallas Goedert, has been hurt but is supposedly on track to return. With that said, an insurance piece like Ertz and a reunion with his former team could be exactly what the doctor ordered.
Dallas Cowboys: The ever-popular team from Texas has a powerful offense, and quarterback Dak Prescott is playing the best football of his career. They also have a young and exciting tight end on the roster by the name of Jake Ferguson. However, owner Jerry Jones has never been shy when it comes to adding talent. Signing a guy like Ertz who has the experience and skill that could put them over the top for the stretch run, might just be the perfect recipe for that long overdue championship.
Buffalo Bills: The Bills haven't performed up to expectations this season and are struggling to find a true offensive identity. They have a rookie TE named Dalton Kincaid who is having a sensational first season, but adding a talented second tight end (the Bills also have TE Dawson Knox currently on injured reserve) to pair with Kincaid might give them enough weaponry to finally find their groove and head into the playoffs feeling like a real contender.
Someone is going to sign the 3-Time Pro Bowler, and it's only a matter of whom and when that happens. His fantasy football impact is probably going to be minimal, so don't go rushing to the waiver wire unless you are in desperate need of help. But if he can prove healthy and perform anywhere close to expectations, that team is going to pat themselves on the back for making a move that could propel them to the promised land. Stay tuned.
