ANALYSIS: Most often used as a "follower" last season by the Rays, Yonny Chirinos made a strong case for himself as a traditional starter with his 2019 debut. The 25-year-old dominated a dangerous Astros lineup last Sunday, allowing just two hits and striking out six in seven innings of one-run ball. He induced whiffs on nearly 14 percent of his pitches in that outing and got first-pitch strikes on 16 of the 22 batters he faced.
He'll take on the lowly Giants on the road today, an outing that will likely lead to another spike in his ownership rate. For now, though, you can still add him for free in over three-quarters of Yahoo leagues.
