BALLER MOVE: Add In Deep NL Only Leagues, Ignore In All Mixed League Formats
ANALYSIS: Consider the following analysis as more of a waiver wire deterrent than an recommendation, but let's see if we can help someone out with the Padres great Yonder Alonso. First of all, this guy has never lived up to the tiny bit of hype the Padres tried to force on him, but that aside, he has slightly picked up the pace over the past 7 days batting .250 with 2 HR, 3RBI and 2 runs. Like I said, nothing to jump up for joy about, or leave your blind date to run back to the computer for, but if you play in a 10+ team NL-Only league, Mr. Alonso can be of marginal assistance at the 1B or CI slot. Even if you just are using him as a stopgap for an injured veteran (like when Votto was out for a stretch recently), his everyday at bats have some value still in the game we call fantasy baseball. At a whopping 6% ownership rate in Yahoo leagues, Alonso is more readily available on your waiver wire than the drunk, not-so-cute, flirtatious chick at the local bar (circa 2AM), so just make sure you don't have any better options before you commit to him (even if it's only a one time thing).
