BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues
OWNED IN: 36 percent of Fleaflicker leagues
ANALYSIS: Yasmani Grandal showed serious promise in his rookie season with the Padres back in 2012, posting a .297/.394/.469 line with eight homers and 64 R+RBI in just 60 games. During the following offseason, however, he was suspended for a positive PED test. He struggled during the next two seasons before being traded to the Dodgers. Grandal's first half performance last season reminded everyone of his talent, as he led all catchers with a .927 OPS and .244 ISO. Unfortunately, he cratered after the break thanks in large part to a shoulder injury that completely wrecked his swing.
Grandal opened the season on the disabled list, but has hit .276/.432/.414 since returning to the lineup. He has yet to go deep, but has proven he has plenty of pop in the past. His patience (career 14.5% walk rate) makes him an excellent option in OBP leagues, but he's worth rostering in most leagues. Grandal has been hitting fifth and sixth in the Dodgers lineup; considering that most catchers tend to hit in the bottom third of the order, that gives him an edge over the majority of the field.
