Yairo Munoz (SS, STL) - Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 4% of leagues

ANALYSISYairo Munoz surprised most by making the Cardinals rosters out of Spring Training, and did nothing through the first few games to keep himself in the bigs. This time around the production is a bit different. In his last 12 games, Munoz is slashing .389/.421/.583 with two homers and a stolen base. With Paul DeJong and Greg Garcia, both fighting injury, the playing time should be there for a player who is on a roll. He made the team due to the position flexibility, and while only SS eligible right now, has experience playing in the outfield in the minors. A key thing to remember is that the Cardinals traded for Munoz, meaning they like him and want to see him play. He is not some short-term fill-in, but a player with a future on the team.

What stands out the most with this players are the RBI numbers so far, as he has nine in his last 12 games. Five of those games in one game, but the other four are nice and spread out showing a player who is making contact is the right situations. Taking away the homers only one of his remaining 12 hits have been for extra bases so owners should expect singles or homers, but with the contact being there this should be a good play at the MI position. He will cool off, so keep an eye on the DL for now, but in the short term use him while he is hot.
