Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy has been one of the top pass-catchers in college football over the past few years. The explosive receiver was outstanding his freshman year, totaling 62 receptions for 981 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
Unfortunately, his production slipped in 2022. Worthy had 60 receptions for 760 receiving yards and nine touchdowns despite playing part of the year with a broken hand. Last season, the former Longhorn set a career high with 75 receptions and 1,014 receiving yards. However, he had only five receiving touchdowns, down nearly 50% from the year before.
Worthy’s touchdown regression isn’t a concern. Adonai Mitchell transferred to Texas before the start of the 2023 season and became a go-to touchdown guy for Quinn Ewers. While many expect Worthy to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, where could the former Longhorn land?

What Is Xavier Worthy’s Draft Range?
Despite running a 4.25 40-yard dash on his first attempt at the NFL Combine, Worthy wanted to break the record. The explosive receiver ran a 4.22 40-yard dash on his second attempt, beating John Ross’ record by 0.01 seconds.
Following his performance at the NFL Combine, the former Longhorn could be a top-15 pick. The NFL loves explosive wide receivers, especially following the new kickoff rules. Worthy didn’t return kicks in college but averaged over 14 yards per punt return at Texas.

Worthy could come off the board as early as pick 13 to the Las Vegas Raiders, while his floor is likely the 39th pick by the Carolina Panthers at the top of the second round.
Which Teams Could Draft Xavier Worthy?
The former Longhorn star met with the Cincinnati Bengals at the NFL Combine. The Bengals love their explosive receivers, having drafted Ross ninth overall a few years ago after he broke the record for the fastest 40-yard dash. More importantly, Cincinnati has a significant need at the wide receiver position, with Tee Higgins wanting a trade and Tyler Boyd not expected to return in 2024.

Another potential landing spot for Worthy is the Buffalo Bills. The AFC East champions have the 28th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. They lost Gabe Davis in free agency, while Stefon Diggs’ future with the team is up in the air. Despite signing Curtis Samuel, don’t be surprised if the Bills add an explosive downfield wide receiver with their top draft pick.
