With two games in the third-place playoff and final, today's showdowns are Belgium vs England and France vs Croatia. Due to the multiple games being played, lineups are back to their normal constructions. Below we bring you seven players you should consider as World Cup DFS lineup picks for Matchday 23 (on July 14/15th, 2018).
Not all are top-tier options, as there is a range of DFS value picks, sleepers and high-risk players mixed in.
Consider all of these players for your DFS lineups; however, at the end of the day, it is always your decision. Good luck, RotoBallers.
WC DFS Forwards to Consider
Romelu Lukaku - F, Belgium (DK - $8,000, FD - $9,500)
Lukaku is definitely a riskier pick because there is a chance that he is rested in the team's third place playoff match against England. However, only two goals behind Harry Kane in the Golden Boot race, Lukaku might still suit up for the team in an attempt to get the coveted award. If you believe that you can absorb the risk of Lukaku not playing, then by all means suit up with the big Belgian forward in your lineups tomorrow.
Danny Welbeck - F, England (DK - $5,200, FD - $6,000)
One player who may feature for England on the chance that forward Harry Kane is rested is Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck. Welbeck has been a forgotten option for the England national team this tournament but could finally get a chance to shine in the third-place match. Although he is definitely a risky option, Welbeck is a good Tournament play due to his low price-point and potential value that he could generate against a rotated Belgium back line.
WC DFS Midfielders to Consider
Luka Modric - M, Croatia (DK - $7,600, FD - $9,000)
If there is one player who should have a huge game for Croatia in the final on Sunday, it's midfielder and captain Luka Modric. Modric has had a very good tournament for himself so far and will be the team's leader on set pieces as well as assists in this match. Modric is a creative maestro and one of the few elite midfielder options left in the slate, making him a must-own player in GPP formats for this set of fixtures.
Adnan Januzaj - M, Belgium (DK - $5,800, FD - $5,000)
In a similar vein to the Welbeck recommendation, having midfielder/forward Adnan Januzaj in your lineups is a good contrarian option if you are banking on squad rotation in the third-place match between Belgium and England. Januzaj actually got himself a goal against England in the team's third match of the Group Stage, making him a good option to repeat the feat if he is included in the team's lineup for their match.
WC DFS Defenders to Consider
Sime Vrsaljko - D, Croatia (DK - $4,700, FD - $4,500)
Definitely one of the surprises of the tournament, Croatia right back and Atletico Madrid defender Sime Vrsaljko has been an exciting option for fantasy purposes due to his attacking ability from the fullback position. With an assist in the team's semi-final match against England, Vrsaljko looks like a good option to do damage against expected favorites France and is appropriately priced on both sites.
Benjamin Pavard - D, France (DK - $5,400, FD - $5,500)
Another big surprise this tournament, Benjamin Pavard scored an absolute screamer against Argentina in the Round of Sixteen, but has quietly been playing very well for the entirety of the tournament. Pavard has advanced up the pitch at will, opening himself up for crosses and even some long-ranged efforts. Expect Pavard to feature heavily in the game against Croatia (that France is be favored to win), making him a premier defender to own across all formats.
WC DFS Goalies to Consider
Hugo Lloris - G, France (DK - $5,400, FD - $5,500)
With the highest potential for saves in the entire slate and a big match occasion to highlight his talents, Hugo Lloris is a great option who is the most likely to get a high saves total for his team. With France expected to have more chances in the game against Croatia, expect Lloris to be involved in a few key saves but also have a decent chance to keep a clean sheet intact, totally justifying the cost of ownership on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Lloris is a good GPP and Tournament option due to his team's expected victory in the final (although really, anything can happen; it's the final!).
Good luck this weekend!
