BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 25% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Wily Peralta didn't take too long to completely reinvent himself for the Kansas City Royals this year as a closer at age 29. Over his last 8.1 IP Peralta has been on point with a 3.24 ERA and 0.96 WHIP, a time period in which he has accrued three saves. Peralta has settled into a new groove as Kansas City's high leverage reliever, and he has done so with a variety of improved peripherals. First, though he is producing a 0.86 GB/FB ratio this month off of 43.8% fly balls, he has lowered his soft contact rate down to 38.9% from 52% in July, while hist soft contact has reached a season-high 22%.
Also, Peralta's K/9 improved to 8.59 this month after producing 7.45 for July; and most significantly, he has only been producing 2.45 BB/9 after his previous lowest monthly figure of the year was 6.52. In the reliever role this season, Peralta has been able to get his average fastball velocity to 96.5 mph, and even though the 40-91 Royals may not happen upon save opportunities too often, being the bonafide closer of a squad is always a valuable quality. With his consistent play of late, Wily Peralta is in a great position to capitalize on his new high-leverage role for Kansas City.
