BALLER MOVE: Add in Two-Catcher Leagues
OWNED IN: 2% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Whether he is motoring around the bases or face-planting in the infield, Astudillo has been an exciting player to watch. Not only that but Astudillo, nicknamed La Tortuga (the turtle), has been a pleasure to own at the catcher position.
In the last 14 days, he has two homers and six RBI to go with a .360 average. Yep, you read that right. If that isn’t impressive enough, Astudillo also has tremendous plate discipline. He has only struck out twice (4%) in 53 plate appearances this year. Of course, it is also worth noting that he has only walked once in that time frame (2%).
The Twins will be on the road the whole week with a series in Detroit before heading to Oakland. Astudillo will face three righties and two lefties, with another pitcher to be identified later. He has a .327 batting average this year so I would start him whenever he is on the field. However, if you wanted to get more analytical, he does have better stats against righties (.333 AVG) than he does lefties (.278 AVG).
